Report: West Papua special autonomy hearing broken up, 55 arrested for ‘treason Fri, 20 Nov 2020 12:11:31 +0000

West Papua special autonomy hearing broken up, 55 arrested for ‘treason''

In a brief report on the current situation of West Papua, since this week, the Papuan People’s Assembly (MRP) has held a series of important activities to get input from the Papuan people regarding the end of the 20 year validity period of the special autonomy law for the provinces of Papua and West Papua. In the implementation of the general evaluation activities carried out by the MRP, according to Article 77 of the Law, but strangely the Indonesian state does not give the MRP room to mediate the delivery of people’s opinions regarding the positive and negative sides of the 20 years of enactment of this law. In fact the Indonesian government through the police apparatus strictly prohibited the holding of these public meetings. The Indonesian regime prohibited people’s assembling in several cities, the police took strong measures such as prohibitions and arrests, which resulted in the handcuff of one of the MRP members and their staff, and the police also detained 55 community members who wanted to attend and voice their opinion in  the meeting on charges of treason. All the series of meeting activities mediated by the MRP are in accordance with the Republic of Indonesia Law, number 21 of 2001, this is the law of the Indonesian state itself, but strangely Indonesia itself does not respect its own laws or respect, even MRP members who exercise their authority bestowed by Indonesian constitution. MRP Members are arrested by the police in the same way they arrest the perpetrators of crimes or criminals and then handcuffed without any justification. The  Papuan people are calling for International solidarity for decolonization of West Papua as they have  rejected the plan to extend the second Special Autonomy Law  and called for it to be canceled paving way for self determination of West Papua.

West Papua mourns Ghanian President H.E JJ Rawlings Mon, 16 Nov 2020 22:18:51 +0000
ULMWP Chairperson Benny Wenda and Former Ghanian President H.E Jerry Rawlings

The Chairperson of United Liberation Movement for West Papua H.E Benny Wenda has sent his deepest condolences on behalf of the people of West Papua.

On behalf of the people of West Papua, I send my deepest condolences to the people of Ghana 🇬🇭 following the passing of former President Jerry Rawlings.

Known for an anti-colonial stance, President Rawlings’ leadership saw West Papuan freedom fighters welcomed as refugees in Ghana in the 1980s.

When I met him in 2016, he assured me of his people’s enduring support for West Papua saying, “It is no surprise to me that you had support from Ghana at the UN in 1969 and that we accepted West Papuan refugees in the 1980’s. West Africa has seen slavery, colonial and independence struggles….Chief you find yourself in a very painful situation!…I suggest that you contact the European Commission, every parliamentarian, the AU and all organizations concerned. Keep knocking and knock again, don’t let them sleep, we will contribute by reminding them who is still colonized…Keep fighting!”

We West Papuans have never forgotten the incredible leadership that Ghana showed us in 1969 when they led scores of mainly African and Caribbean nations to demand our self-determination at the United Nations.

We will never forget the incredible leadership shown to us by President Rawlings and all fellow African leaders, who know that one day, we as Black West Papuans will finally be liberated too.

Former Ghanaian President H.E Jerry Rawlings was an ardent supporter of West Papua And a strong advocate for self determination of the indigenous people who are undergoing systematic human rights violations and servitude.
West Papua is a Black nation that is  still under Indonesian colonial domination in 21st Century.
West Papua was initially colonized by the Dutch and now by Indonesia which was also a Dutch Colony.
Over 500,000 Papuans have been massacred by Indonesian Colonial regime while over 6Million have disappeared through forceful depopulation and deployment of Biological weapons.

Indonesia has deployed thousands of troops to force Papuans to accept failed autonomy law but many continue to resist the colonial repression.

Kerom West Papua Department of Labour and Personnel Management Office burnt by angry mob Thu, 01 Oct 2020 19:17:23 +0000
Kerom regency Department of Personnel Management office on fire

An office building was set alight by the disgruntled West Papuans due to unfair and discriminatory employment practices by the department. The expectations were that labour would consists of 80 percent West Papuans and 20 percent migrants but the result showed otherwise when final selections were made.

The unfair employment practices has been going since the 2001 when the Special Autonomy was granted. The Indonesian government send unemployed immigrants from Jakarta to fill up all the spaces in West Papua leaving new graduates from West Papua out of jobs.

Police open fire on demonstrators on the road.

Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta shocks the world by claiming that “Africa’s natural resources are not important” meanwhile the event was packaged by French companies eager to lay hands on Kenya’s natural resources. Thu, 01 Oct 2020 17:06:25 +0000

Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta shocks the world by claiming that “Africa’s natural resources are not important” meanwhile the event was packaged by French companies eager to lay hands on Kenya’s natural resources.

History has shown that every successful nation was built through its natural resources.
Even the paper money that France ,Europe and United States gives Africa in form of ”foreign aid” is of no value unless backed African gold and diamond that they have continuously exploited even in Post Independent Africa.
Its foolish to come with this ridiculous assumptions that natural resources Africa has do not count or matter.
Slavery and colonialism was about extraction of Africa’s natural wealth to this day their mission remains the same.
Africa has lost nearly $89bn a year in illicit financial flows such as tax evasion and theft, amounting to more than it receives in development aid, a United Nations study has showed and this wealth comes from our minerals.
Europe was built through stealing African gold, copper, Ivory, diamonds, silver, iron cotton, oil and gas but today African leaders have failed to utilize these natural resources to empower young people own this huge wealth that Africa is endowed with.
If it was true what he said then France and Europe will import as many young people as possible from Africa since they are ”the greatest assets ” but instead Europe has tightened its migration laws to prevent young people from Africa from sneaking into their countries.
Young people in Kenya have become hustlers after graduating while a few individuals profit from foreign deals that give away the natural resources instead of empowering locals to take full ownership of these discoveries and benefit from natural resources the government forcefully relocates people to pave way for foreign companies to plunder our wealth.
This is why though young people make up over 70% of the population in Africa, we are powerless and this makes it a national security issue as millions of unemployed young people means more criminal activities.
Youths in Africa have ended up joining terrorist groups because of economic opportunities they were offered.
Having labour without natural resources doesn’t make a nation great.
African Leaders are being indoctrinated into embracing false ideologies that our natural resources do not matter or count.
While I agree with him that young people are great assets that Africa has ,for them to reach their full potential they must take the lead in Land Ownership and exploiting the natural resources that Africa has to offer.
Having many unemployed young people without access to natural resources and wealth to ensure that they reach their full potential is the reason for the underdevelopment of Africa.
Kenyan President reiterated that “Africa’s biggest asset is the potential held by its youthful population and not its natural resources.”
But these are not facts on the ground.
The scramble for Africa has always been about plundering our oil, gold, diamonds ,gas, copper and cobalt because Europeans know that these are the most valuable assets or raw materials to build nations.
Through this valley of lies Europeans, Chinese and Americans have taken African Leaders many have ended up disregarding natural resources, leaving them for Europeans to scuffle over while blindfolded not to see the reality they are valuing more the loans that they are given at the detriment of the future of Africa.
President Uhuru Kenyatta’s remarks show how successful the West manipulates and controls the minds of African Leaders into believing they don’t need their natural resources to develop.
Its this kind of attitude which makes African leaders auction oil and gas fields or diamond mines to European or Chinese companies because they think disempowered and disinherited young people are the greatest asset in Africa.
“I tell people all the time, we look at the African continent sometimes from a perspective of its natural wealth. The gold, the diamonds, the oil, the gas but what we tend not to see is what is the true African potential.
“And the true African potential is our young men and women, and their capacity to participate with you to build a greater and better world for all of us,” President Kenyatta said.
The President spoke Thursday when he delivered the key note speech at the 6th BPIfrance Inno Generation business forum at Accor Arena in Paris, France. He was the chief guest at the conference which is the largest annual congregation of French entrepreneurs and innovators.

Indonesians Shameless Attitude on West Papua at the United Nations General Assembly; Self-defeating Strategy Thu, 01 Oct 2020 11:24:38 +0000
Silvany Austin the Indonesian diplomat that Indonesia used to shame themselves in the International Community

Indonesia’s obsessiveness about West Papua is painting the country from boastfully democratic country to one that is consistent lying nation about ‘democracy’, ‘human rights’ and systematic ‘racism’ against the African descent of West Papua.

Indonesia’s human rights have been all time poor over the last 75 years of Indonesia’s independence, the country was established based on lies and deceptions from local, regional to international level that its leaders try every year to appear clean in the eyes of the international community without admitting for a the fact that they have committed some of the worse human rights and abuse of democratic process in human history.

Indonesia’s human rights record has been all time negative though the country has signed and ratified most of the nine major human rights instruments of the United Nations. These instruments were signed only to appear good in the eyes of the international community. Indonesia even have lots of recommendations from the International community about fixing its human rights situation in the country filled up since 2008.

Indonesia continue to lie to the world about no human rights violation in West Papua treating West Papuans less than human beings who die at the hands of Indonesia’s notorious military and police every day in West Papua while keeping the International community shut from West Papua. Every Indonesian institution including human rights institutions and the media have all compromised to wipe out West Papua systematically but thanks to social media, credible information are getting out and sooner later Indonesia have to face the international community to answer for the crimes against humanity that it has been committing against the people of West Papua.

Indonesian Military Target for Church Leaders in West Papua; Serious Problem for the growth of Christian Church Thu, 01 Oct 2020 09:06:33 +0000
Pastor Gemin Nirigi shot by Indonesian military in 2018 in Nduga regency

The church in West Papua is under attack by the Indonesian military due to its uncompromising position on matters of human rights. Church leaders in West Papua have long been the targets for Indonesian military and police who constantly monitor them and intimidate them to ensure they only speak peaceful news about West Papua.

Indonesian Military Targeting Christian Pastors has been a trend in West Papua since the death of Father Neles Tebay in 2019 through food poisoning. Christian Churches are losing more pastors and priests under the hands of Indonesian military who are mostly Muslim extremists. Pastors and Priests are prime targets of TNI and Indonesian intelligence in West Papua a trend that is dangerous for the growth and continuity of the Christian faith in West Papua. Churches in the Melanesian countries and the Pacific need to raise their voices higher this time because shepherds are dying leaving their sheep behind to be forced to follow their own ways.

Below is the list of Pastors who died in West Papua under the hands of Indonesian intelligence and military since 2018;

  1. Father Neles Tebay a Senior Catholic Priests and Director for Papua Peace Network died of food poisoning in  Jakarta in 2019
  2. Pastor Gemin Nirigi Short and buried by Indonesian Military in December 2018
  3. Pastor Alfred Degei of GKI Church Murdered in cold blod on 22nd of September 2020 died while out looking for pigs food
  4. Pastor Yeremias Zanambani of GKI Church shot by TNI on 20th of September 2020.

Many Church Leaders are under the target of Indonesian military and police and their intelligence network. This has been a norm since Indonesia annexed the region 59 years ago. Pacific countries and the Christians in general cannot stay silent on this well-planned execution of Church leaders in West Papua Christian churches need to do something.

Sudden murder of Pastor Alfred Degei in Nabire West Papua Thu, 01 Oct 2020 08:52:21 +0000
Pastor Alfred Degei’s body found dead on the 26th of September 2020

On the 22nd of September Pastor Alfred in Nabire went out of the house in the morning informing his family that he would go to look for pigs food at around 2: 00 pm. Since the Pastor did not return early as promised so his son went out to look for him that afternoon. The son searched for the father around the known locations but could not find him. He went to a place a certain police officer was interviewing the people showing them the dead body of his father if they could identify the body.

Son went there and saw that the dead body was his father’s body; he was told by the police that the dead body was found dead at the back of the local Catholic Church. The son could not believe because Pastor Alfred was healthy that morning when went out of the house. On his body they saw bleeding from his nostrils and mouth and signs of heavy beating on the head. He was murdered in cold blood by somebody. The Police officer that was there was also questionable given the circumstances. The family is still in a state of shock on the sudden death of their father.

This is not the first time, West Papuans are dying everyday in this manner throughout the land.

Pastor Zanambani of GKI Church in West Papua murdered by Indonesian military Thu, 01 Oct 2020 05:19:30 +0000
Pastor Zanambani’s body after the murder

Hitadipa is a district in Intan Jaya regency located to the West of Nduga regency and North-west of the giant Freeport Mine in Mimika regency.

Pastor Yeremias Zanambani is his full name; he was a senior Pastor of the GKI Church, Bible translator and Head Master of the local Seminary when he was killed.

Pastor Zanambani and his wife Miriam lives in the Hitadipa station while they have their piggery on the other side of the river about 300 meters walk. Before the incident, there was a military build-up in the area due to armed conflict between the West Papua National Liberation Army (TPNPB OPM) and the Indonesian military. The Indonesian military at the time was setting up a temporary base near their piggery while fighting with the TPNPB.

On the afternoon of 20th September 2020, Pastor Zanambani and his wife went to their piggery on the other side of the river as usual for feeding. On their way they met members of the Indonesian military who interrogated them accusing them of taking the food to feed the TPNPB members, they even followed them to their piggery and watched while they fed their pigs.

The Indonesian military left after that so Miriam told her husband that they should leave the area because it was getting late. However, Pastor told his wife to go home and prepare dinner for the family. He remained in the piggery to cook breakfast for the pigs. Miriam went home around 5: 00 pm and shortly after 30 minutes or so heard gun shots from the piggery. She alerted the Pastors that her husband and the old people at the piggery are in danger so they should visit them once, however, Pastors did not want to go out of fear. Miriam went back to the piggery around 6: 00 pm and saw her husband was shot on his side including breaking his arm. Pastor was alive at the time so he told her that the Indonesian military shot him. She returned home while two old people slept with him in the piggery. He passed away in the mid night on the 20th of September 2020. On the next day, the Indonesian military (TNI) allowed only five Pastors to collect his body and buried it without proper mourning as per Melanesian tradition. Melanesians were known for mourning longer days for the death of their ‘big man’, and this was one of those big man in the area but was forced to bury on the same day Sunday 21st of September 2020.

Hitadipa district in the Intan Jaya regency is currently experiencing one of the worse humanitarian crises after the murder of Pastor Yeremias Zanambani who was also the translator of Bible to local Moni dialect and Head Master of the local Theology school. He was shot by Indonesian military suspecting him of being a member of the West Papua National Liberation Army. After the shooting the Indonesian military only allowed five pastors to bury his body on the next day without proper funeral.

The villagers were ordered to leave their villages the next day emptying 6 churches, local community school and left for nearby villages or into the jungles. Some thousands of people currently displaced in Hitadipa, regency. The government is still not saying anything about the incident and is very slow to send independent investigation team into the area to verify the information coming out of the area.
